Kandre Arámidẹ Hassan, is a contemporary multidisciplinary artist and self described cultural conversationalist from South London. Specialising in figurative paintings, drawings and poetry, her work challenges the limit of what lived and embodied experiences can look
like in an exploration of neo surrealism, transcending you into her subconscious auras and dreamscapes. Since earning her Bachelor’s in Social & Visual Anthropology, her love of shedding light on unspoken realities has led her to develop a creative process that bridges intuitive and automatic techniques with highly refined cultural concepts. By optimising her synesthesia through working under coloured lights and listening to music & sound, she aims to continually enhance the sensual perceptions and visual semiotics within her pieces.
With a distinctive style emanating from her heritage as a Nigerian diaspora woman and deep intrigue in the supernatural, typical themes you’ll find across her work are notions of ritual, folklore, inter-generation & ancestry, the intermittence of pain and healing & continuously unmasking discoveries we make in our connections with self, others and space.
